Baby's Health and Safety

Baby's Health

Teething Pain Relief

Oragel® always worked on our little darlings aching gums. Just spurt a little on your finger and rub it on baby's gums. And soon the fussy baby will calm back down.

Thermometer

There are four ways (and counting) to take someone's temperature:

  • Orally - in their mouth under their tongue (DO NOT use this method on your infant!)
  • Ear - using a special thermometer designed for that (sometimes a little hard to do with infants as they move alot and you do not want to injure them)
  • Armpit - just raise the arm put the thermometer in and lower/hold the arm down (good method for infants)
  • Rectal - insert the thermometer where all of the do-do (a very technical term) comes out (usable method for infants)
Always use a plastic thermometer cover when taking a someone's temperature. You do not want to spread germs or worse.

Diaper Rash Cream

There's nothing quite like the soothing sensation of Desitin® on baby's diaper rash. The only problem we ever had with it is the smell. But let's face it, babies have a lot of smells so what's one more? I can use Desitin® on myself as well to sooth sunburn of other minor burns.

Baby's Safety

Baby Gates

As your baby becomes mobile, baby gates are a must. Especially for those who have two story houses! Be sure to get one that is easy to install and operate but that will keep baby in (or out if that is what is needed)

Outlet Covers

There are many devices on the market today that will keep baby from sticking something into an electrical outlet. I highly recommend you get some!

Cabinet Safety Locks

Cabinets can contain all kinds of things that are not good for baby. Be sure to move all chemicals and other hazardous materials up out of baby's reach. But you will still likely need to use cabinet locks on the lower cabinets in your house unless you like picking up and washing your towels multiple times per day.
